Symptoms & Diagnosis
Bone Densitometry (BMD test) is a short test to measure bone mass and density and compares it to that of an established norm or standard to give you a score. BMD test is widely used in the diagnosis and monitoring of osteoporosis, as it is the only method of its diagnosis. BMD test is carried out at various points with the DXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) method.
Osteoporosis is a disease that makes the bones thinner and therefore increases the risk of breaking them. It is more common after the age of 50 and in women. Osteoporosis also affects men one decade older than women almost in the same percentage. As a disease, it is not perceived directly, because there are no symptoms before a bone fracture. Most people are not diagnosed, until they have suffered multiple fractures.

People Say
The doctor advised me, due to my age and gender, to have a bone mineral density test. The test with the polyclinic’s modern machine was painless, took a few minutes and I got the result immediately.
